CLE – What You Need to Know About Title IX for Athletics

Title IX of Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal law that prohibits sex discrimination in any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.  It provides: “No person in the United States, shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.”   Melanie Ross Levin will discuss the genesis of Title IX and its impact in Delaware on providing more opportunities for women and girls in athletics.
