This session will review the recent amendments to Delaware Supreme Court Rule 26, adopted February 2, 2026, including counsel’s continuing obligations to advise clients and docket appeals in criminal and juvenile delinquency cases. The program will explain the new distinctions for handling “non-merit” appeals depending on whether the appellant pleaded guilty or was convicted or adjudicated delinquent after trial, as well as updated procedures for motions to withdraw. It will also provide practical tips for effective appellate brief writing, including organizing persuasive arguments, presenting clear statements of issues and facts, and strengthening advocacy through concise and strategic use of authority.
Lunch will be provided by the DSBA
This seminar offers 1.0 credit to Delaware and Pennsylvania Attorneys; 1.2 credits to New Jersey Attorneys.
